Integrated School Health Tip #2

Get yourself a beach ball. Steal, liberate or otherwise acquire several different colors of sharpies from the supply room. On the beach ball write a variety of different movements. Here is a partial list but if you are drawn to this blog I am sure you can create some more because you are passionate, inspired and creative!

  • Twirl three times slowly
  • Bend and try to touch your toes
  • Jump up and down three times
  • Side bend to the right
  • Side bend to the left
  • Do two pushups
  • Bend your knees and squat three times
Write these and a variety of simple movements you can do in a short period of time in the classroom all over the ball with your recently liberated sharpies. Make sure you get the permanent markers and not the erasable ones. I've made that mistake before!

First thing in the morning or any time your class gets tired bring out your ball. Throw the ball to a random student. Wherever their thumb and pinky land, do those movements.

Variations
  • If  you are one of those special people called yogis or even an inspired yogi, write yoga poses all over the ball.
  • If you must but only if you must write those movements or poses on a rubber chicken!
